too much to say...

Last night Matt took me out on a date to the Sundance Resort. We rode the chair lift up and over peaks of the mountains and then back down again under the light of the full moon. It was amazing. We were up so high and the night was dark, except for the light of the moon, and it shone so bright. It was so picturesque. We, along with many many other couples rugged up on the chair lift with a blanket over our legs and admired the landscape.
I feel like I have so much to write, and whenever I am doing something the thought pops up...oooh i have to write about this on my blog... It was such a cool thing to do.
Sundance Resort is owned by Robert Redford and is where all of the snow bunnies go in winter. Matt and his pals hit it up in the snow season and snowboard 'till their heart's content.
Snowboarding id definitely something I am going to learn more about this winter. I HATE the cold though. I can't handle the Blue Mountains back home I am dreading winter here. I am a coastal girl.

Ok, so we have been taking care of our garden, we planted tomatoes, capsicum (or bell peppers as they are known here), watermelons, chard, corn, cucumber..... and.... squash!!! Which just GROWS! I have the biggest one I picked yet which isn't in this photo, along with all of these, and seriously, there is only so much you can do. We grill it on the bbq, sautee it with corn and butter, I made zucchini bread with 2 of them and this is what I am left with! I need ideas... bad.
So if you have any good recipes please let me know.

Matt's parents are coming to stay tomorrow. We are really excited. Matt bought this house about 18 months ago now and they haven't seen it yet - so he is super excited. He wants his Dad to check it out and give him some advice on renovations, meanwhile I can learn all of the amazing pie recipes from his mum, oh and peanut butter cookies! YUM!
I promised Matt I would make them vegemite on toast.

I have a little bit of cleaning to do - replying to emails for the business we're trying to get started over here and probably make some more zucchini bread!

today was the day...

Today I decided I would start my blog. I have seen so many blogs that look fantastic - and with my family and friends overseas I knew it would be a great idea to keep everyone up-to-date.
Well I guess it is time to update everyone.

I married Matt (mattmoo) Smith on June 19th 2009. I met Matt in 1999 in Gosford N.S.W where he served his mission.
We were married in San Diego, California. It was a beautiful day.

We live in Provo, Utah. A college town that is pretty chill compared to the hustle and bustle I am used to in Australia.
I moved to the U.S in late March this year.

It was a HUGE move. It was really hard at first, I missed my family and friends. In particular my little sister Cassie who I had grown super close to over the last couple of years. We were flatting together in Frankston on the beach and had the best summer ever!

I just remember the plane ride over was terrible. I felt so sorry for the guy sitting next to me. I was listening to my ipod and every time a song came on that reminded me of Cas, I would ball my eyes out!!! It took so long to gather myself and stop crying. This happened in hour intervals throughout my entire plane ride.

And so my family came over for the wedding. Mum and Rob, Cassie and Nicola. It was amazing! The first time my Mum, Cas and Nicci had ever been to the U.S. They loved it.

So here I am settling into life in the States. It's been about 5 months and I am getting more used to everything. There aren't drastic differences, just small things culturally, mostly in colloquial language use. I love it here - I feel really blessed to have the life I do now! I am so happy and have time to do things that make me smile. It is a great feeling.

I love my husband - Matt is so much fun!

Today he was at his friend Grant's house helping him install his new fridge, they had forgotten a part they needed at our place. So they skateboarded home to get it. Meanwhile I was waiting for my new friend Natalie to come pick me up, she did just as they were skating up the path to the house. When I got in the car she asked "who were those boys?" I was like.... "um, my husband and his best friend" ...
she thought they were teenagers! I explained Matt is 30! So he is a fun guy and that's why I love him so much. He knows how to have fun and muck around, it makes life easy!

I am so excited to actually write in here properly and start this whole blog thing.
